Several areas called out to get tested after identifying positive sewage detections

NSW Deputy Chief Health Officer Dr Marianne Gale has called out several areas which have seen positive sewage detection, specifically Young where a positive case was identified with multiple exposure sites.

“I'd like to call out some areas where we've had positive sewage detections and particularly asked residents of these areas to come forward for testing and to be vigilant symptoms.

“They are Uralla, Inverell, the Hunter Kuruah areas in the Hunter New England region, Coffs Harbour, Cowra, Narooma, and also Young.

Ms Gale also called out areas where there is a continued rise of case numbers are occurring and urges them to follow public health advice, get tested, and get vaccinated.

“Those are residents of Greenacre, Guildford, Auburn, Bankstown, Merrylands, Blacktown and Liverpool.

“Similarly, I'd like to ask residents of the Central Coast and Illawarra where we are seeing increasing case numbers, to please be vigilant for symptoms, please get vaccinated, please get tested."

It comes as NSW records 1,284 COVID-19 transmissions in the state and 12 deaths with two of them being women in their 20s with underlying health conditions and one with a singular dose of the vaccine and the other being unvaccinated.
