1:59 - Vs. Olivia: Strike Egg Marowak / EX Kiawe / Acerola
4:05 - Vs. Kahili: EX Summer Steven / Support Egg Sandslash / Lillie
6:12 - Vs. Hau: Champion Iris / Nanu / Tech Egg Persian
8:21 - Bonus clear Vs. Acerola: EX Kiawe / Support Egg Marowak / Event Bugsy
Been wanting to do a video like this for a while, and this week felt like the best time. Alolan forms are one of my favorite additions to Sun/Moon, and with the Alola Champion Stadium still around, I wanted to use them by teaming them up with their Kanto counterparts!
(There are only four Alolan forms in the game that already have their Kanto counterparts - a fifth, Molayne's Alolan Dugtrio, is still waiting for one - so this technically isn't a 7.5k run.)
Here's how each battle went, and the sync grids used:
Vs. Molayne: Hau / Strike Egg Raichu / BP Lt. Surge - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=18000040371&e1=60&o1=0&g1=&s1=1&id2=10098000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFFBUWGR8iJCgrLi8=&s2=5&id3=10035000001&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBggLDQ4QGhwfISQm&s3=3
Triple Raichu team makes a comeback! I've already used this team for several clears as their synergy is pretty straightforward but powerful. The only thing missing is Sp. Atk buffs to bring Hau and Egg Raichu to +6, and better gauge management since even with all the speed buffs, the two 3-gauge moves have to fight over 4 gauges. Still, Hau's sync nuke really picks up the slack. All he needs is an EX!
Vs. Olivia: Strike Egg Marowak / EX Kiawe / Acerola - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=10007000000&e1=0&o1=750&g1=AAECAwQFBggKExobHiMkJScoKSo=&s1=2&id2=18000040501&e2=60&o2=0&g2=&s2=5&id3=10149000000&e3=1&o3=738&g3=AAECAwQFERMUFRcYJikrLQ==&s3=3
Alolan Marowak is one of the best supports in the game, and its Kanto counterpart is more than happy to take advantage of that. The stronger debuff parameter also makes Shadow Bone even more powerful. Acerola activates Egg Marowak's Surging Sand 2 passive and buys more turns with her flinches. And if you're wondering, yes, I do have an invested Strike Egg Marowak on top of my Strike Egg Shiny Cubone. Cubone and Marowak supremacy!!
Vs. Kahili: EX Summer Steven / Support Egg Sandslash / Lillie - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=18000020511&e1=60&o1=0&g1=&s1=1&id2=10090400000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFERMUFRYXGB4lKCorLi8=&s2=3&id3=10118000000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFERIVGBocHh8iJCYo&s3=5
Probably the pairing with the least synergy here, but Summer Steven still appreciates Sandslash's speed buffs, as it lets him go for an Icicle Crash build without having to get Hasty Hail. Despite having unreliable multipliers, Steven is able to clear Ice-weak stages with ease, with a little help from Lillie and her sure crit buff. The omni-debuff parameter compounded with Lillie's AOE debuffs and Egg Sandslash's Mud Slaps. (I also forgot to get Double Down from Steven's grid, and that would've made the fight even easier haha.)
Vs. Hau: Champion Iris / Nanu / Tech Egg Persian - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=18000030071&e1=60&o1=0&g1=&s1=1&id2=10092800000&e2=0&o2=750&g2=AAECAwQFERUYGRwfIyUpLC4v&s2=3&id3=10056000000&e3=60&o3=30&g3=AAECAwQF&s3=1
Absolutely the hardest clear of this run. I was keen on using a double debuff Persian core, and Champion Iris was the best unit to take advantage of those especially against a Dragon-weak stage. But then I realized that the trio is lacking in so many other aspects of team-building - there's no proper tank, and I have to rely on MPR 2 for a 1 MP move to give Iris buffs. So there were a lot of resets made for this clear, and this run only made it through since there were several turns where the opponents didn't do any damage. If anything this run is more of a Champion Iris showcase - even without crit buffs, her sync nukes still did insnae damage.
Bonus clear vs. Acerola: EX Kiawe / Support Egg Marowak / Event Bugsy - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github.io/#/team-builder/?id1=18000020501&e1=60&o1=0&g1=&s1=1&id2=10149000000&e2=1&o2=738&g2=AAECAwQFBggLGhscHiAhJCYoKisuLw==&s2=3&id3=10045900000&e3=0&o3=750&g3=AAECAwQFBgcJERocHR4hIiQmKCot&s3=5
Felt wrong to just leave it at four clears, so I inverted Kiawe and Egg Marowak's roles for the Acerola clear, taking advantage of SE Shadow Bone. With Acerola's Shielded 1, Event Bugsy was there to cancel it out with Leer, and to keep defenses on the negative end to activate Kiawe's Insult to Injury. Support Egg Marowak's Mud Slap also turned out to work well with Bugsy's innate evasion buffs.
