Body Hair Transplant in India | Extensive baldness with Beard, chest and leg grafts

I have seen body hair transplants evolve since the late 1990s. They have indeed come a long way. Body hair transplants are routinely done at my clinic. If I do 7 cases a week , 4 of them will surely be with body hairs besides scalp graft harvest.The common areas from where good quality grafts can be harvested are the shadow area of the beard and upper neck, the chest between the two breast mounds, and rarely from the belly and limbs.
The popularity of BHT is due to wider acceptance of FUE as a technique, due to development of equipment and skills and consistent good results by some clinics doing regular body hair transplant procedures.
In a typical day, over a 8-10 hour procedure me and my team are capable in the right patient ofcourse to harvest 3500-4000 scalp and upto 2000 body grafts in a day. If more grafts are needed, the remaining procedure can be done the next day.

Body grafts are susceptible to dessication and traumatic handling
Since this is not the scalp, harvesting beard and neck hair can be done only by qualified doctors who have a good understanding of anatomy and realise that important vessels and nerves lie just below the area of harvest
Body grafts have different morphology, physiology and esthetics as compared to scalp grafts.
Body grafts are seldom done alone unless to enhance outcomes of SMP when patient wants to sport a closely trimmed look.
Body grafts taken from the cheeks and side burns may leave visible scarring in dark skin types
Those with tendency to keloid formation should be careful.
Body hair cannot be placed just anywhere in that they have specific geographical utility. Beard grafts go well for behind the leading edge of the hairline. Chest grafts are good for softening the hairline and for the crown area. This is due to their unique morphology.
Body hair respond well to DHT- in fact they are supported by DHT. So if you are getting only body grafts placed there is just no need to take Finastreide. This is one of the reason why even in people ith good scalp donor, I insist on some amount of body grafts to ensure longevity of the result since everyone is not compliant after 6 months to Finasteride.
Usually people who have extensive baldness will more often than not have a good growth of body hair short of being hirsute. God giveth and he taketh away!
With use of BHT methods extensively bald areas today can be covered rather well.
