During an interview with Steve Bannon this week, Marjorie Taylor Greene warned that her supporters were ready for a "long term war" in the United States, though she insisted that the war didn't "need to be" bloody. This rhetoric is obviously a step too far, but it is exactly the kind of thing that people like Bannon love to hear, as they believe they have to take down anyone who disagrees with them by any means necessary. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

During an interview with Steve Bannon this week, representative Marjorie Taylor Greene announced that Republicans are prepared for what she calls a long term war. Although she insists it doesn't have to be a bloody war. Doesn't have to be, but apparently based on her language there, she hasn't completely ruled it out. Here's what Marjorie Taylor Greene had to say. This is a long one. And she was asked by the way, just to set this up, Steve Bannon referred to a recent column by David Brooks, the death of conservatism, where they kind of blame people like Marjorie Taylor Greene for this horrid turn that the Republican party appears to be making. So here's what she says. He doesn't get to define Trumpism. I represent the American people. These are the same people they look down on. These are the same people that they forget about. These are the same people that they can't even relate to because they are stuck up because they are so highly educated.

And because they think they are so much better than everyone. I'm happy to be the face of the American people. Traditional Republicans have caused alcoholism, drug abuse, depression, failed marriages, and caused traditional families to fall apart and small towns to crumble. I could care less who David Brooks is. I came here to fix it and I'm bringing the American people with me. You cannot stop the American people and the American people don't even have to be violent to take these people down. We haven't made anything up. We've told the truth and we are going to continue to tell the truth. And let me tell you something, this is going to be a long term war in our country, and it doesn't have to be a bloody war, but it is a war that we have to continue to fight. Whew. Wow. So traditional Republicans, alcoholism, drug abuse, failed marriages, crumbling small towns, but she and she and her ridiculous cohorts in Congress, you know, the Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boeberts and Gozars and Gohmerts can somehow fix all of this.

Because as she says, they represent the, the American people, the American people, she says that are totally in it for a long term war, but you know, doesn't have to be bloody. And the reason she obviously puts that caveat in there that it doesn't have to be bloody not that it won't be bloody, but just that it doesn't have to is so she doesn't get in trouble for, you know, stoke violence here in the United States, which is exactly what she is doing. You don't use charged words like war if you don't want to fight. And we know exactly what Republicans mean, 20 million Republicans say that violence might be necessary in order to restore Donald Trump to office. That's according to a new report, by the way that came out this week. She knows what her base wants and she knows by the way, how to use this language, this is the smartest I've ever heard her say, not that what she said was intelligent, but the way she said it was very calculated. It showed a little bit of restraint on her part.

Because look at it, she's talking about, oh, they don't understand they're elites. They've got these wonderful educations, which for some reason is bad here in the United States. We don't like smart people or at least the Republicans don't and she's using that to pit them against everybody else. Marjorie Taylor Greene Says Her Supporters Ready For A "Long Term War" In America
