Desirea Ann Ferris was born on February 11, 1999. She was the youngest of four and lived in Liberty, Missouri, with her mom, Patty Tam, and siblings. Her mom and dad divorced when she was still young, and her dad remarried and had another family.

Desirea was warm and bubbly with a smile that could light up a room. She had a vibrant personality and was kind and friendly to everyone.

Desirea also had this solid bond with her mom, which never went away even when she became a teenager.

“She used to always come up and lay in my bed with me and we would sit and watch T.V.”

Desirea was also close with her dad’s other family and got along well with her stepmother, Jennifer.

“She just has a very warm, bubbly personality, always loved being with family, with her brothers and sisters, and her stepbrothers and sister.”

Everyone in her family thought that she would become a teacher or a childcare worker, but Desirea had other plans of becoming a model. Sadly she never got the chance to become any of these things because she disappeared when she was only 18.

Now, due to her warm and outgoing nature, Desirea would often get mixed up with some really shady people that her mom disapproved of. And these are the people who would later get her in trouble.

On May 1, 2017, Desirea and her sister were picked up from their home by a man called Robert Keegan. It’s not clear how the two sisters knew Robert or for how long, but they trusted him enough to go out with him. They spent part of the day together, hanging around town, and then Robert dropped the girls off at a McDonald’s at around 4:30 pm.

From there, another guy called Mark Arzola came and picked them up, and this is where the stories begin to differ. Some accounts say Desirea’s sister was dropped off at their home, while others say she got out at another McDonald’s. Whatever the case, Desirea stayed behind with Mark.

Now, some reports say that Mark was supposed to take Desirea to another friend’s house, but that didn’t happen. Instead, they went over to his home in the Marlborough neighborhood of Kansas City, where they stayed for several hours. This neighborhood is known for being a high-crime area and isn’t exactly a safe place to be.
